Rich orange, gleaming embers of orange light, and perfectly cut, this Hessonite Garnet is shown off to best effect in this complex seaweed swirl design, incorporating both white and yellow gold. This gem is a good example of the Royaling Effect, seen with a microscope.  As Hessonite is formed two types of garnet crystals compete for space. The result is a desert mirage effect like that above very hot sand. This explains the smooth look of the gem interior. It takes a stonecutter of superior ability to bring out brilliance as seen here.
